Before delivery we encourage all moms and partners to attend our Childbirth Preparation classes which include a session on breastfeeding, position/latch, and breast milk storage.
This 7-hour series covers all aspects of the childbearing period for the person giving birth and coach. Topics include the following: anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, labor and delivery, relaxation techniques, breathing patterns for use during labor, effective pushing methods for delivery, discussion of hospital procedures, medications, cesarean childbirth and post-partum adjustment, breastfeeding, position/latch, and breast milk storage.
The first two sessions are via Zoom followed by an in person third session covering counter pressure and massage during labor. A video link on counter pressure and massage is also included and is helpful if an in-person session is not possible.
Breastfeeding gives your baby the best possible nutritional start, but new moms often have questions and concerns about it. Lactation counseling can help any mom become more confident and overcome nursing problems.

Attending these classes helps you and your partner get an idea of what to expect the first days after your baby’s birth, which can help reduce anxiety about feeding your baby and other issues.
