Our Partners
Westside Family Health Center has always had a strong base in collaboration and partnerships. Today, there is no better evidence than our new website, which is made possible from a grant from the Taproot Foundation. But this wasn’t a grant of cash. Instead, it was a grant of talent, brains and heart. The Taproot Foundation brings together teams of business professionals to donate their skills to help nonprofits such as WFHC with their marketing, human resources, strategy management and information technology. WFHC is especially grateful to the Taproot Foundation and to our Taproot team of Nora Hansanugrum, Sol Mesz, Kate Clarkson, Leslie Davis and Vania Kang, the team at Pixelgate Network Solutions and a special thanks to Doug Long.
Also among our valued partners:
Westside/South Bay Kaiser Specialty Care Collaborative: Specialty care referrals are coordinated, with free surgeries such as hernia, gall bladder, and cataract provided by Kaiser Permanente. Partners include: Kaiser Permanente, Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, Venice Family Clinic, South Bay Family Health Care, and COPE Health Solutions. Patient care coordinators from each of the clinics meet monthly, have standardized their referral procedures, and work closely with the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services on referrals for other services, such as rheumatology and cardiology. As a result, WFHC’s insured patients are being seen by specialists much quicker than before, in many cases days rather than months.
Westside Health Coalition: When two western Los Angeles County primary care facilities were slated for closure in 1995, WFHC partnered with Venice Family Clinic and formed the Westside Health Coalition, which continues today. Building off of this early focus on collaboration, the two health centers have forged a close working relationship that extends beyond the organization and includes staff that regularly interacts with the shared goal of better patient care.
Westside Children’s Center: We provide children’s TB tests and flu shots as well as employee and volunteer physicals and TB testing.
Santa Monica College: We provide healthcare services for students.
Saint John’s Health Center: We administer Saint John’s highly-recognized Shots for Tots and Teens immunization program at WFHC.
Saint Anne Elementary School: Since 2008 we have worked with Saint Anne to promote health programs among its students. Currently, Saint Anne is the recipient of WFHC’s clinic-wide “Heart2Heart’’ community charitable giving program started more than five years ago in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. So far WFHC employees, board members, family and friends have collected hundreds of Box Tops for Education, which the school can convert into much-needed cash.
Reach Out and Read: This national partnership provides books for children 0 to 5 at their well-child visits, while local contributions have allowed us to extend our literacy program to all pediatric patients up to age 10.
Olympic High School: We provide healthcare services and health education to students.
Institute of Popular Education of Southern California: We partner with IPEPSCA to provide flu/H1N1 vaccinations, educational presentations, HIV testing and other health services at day labor sites.
Common Ground: We provide healthcare services for homeless youth.
California Immunization Registry: CAIR is California's statewide immunization registry network. This partnership helps WFHC ensure that our pediatric patients are up to date on all recommended vaccinations.
AIDS Project Los Angeles: For the fifth year in a row, the WFHC Westside Wanderers have participated in the Los Angeles AIDS Walk, a major APLA fundraiser.
