Heart 2 Heart

At Westside Family Health Center we believe in cultivating a spirit of philanthropy among WFHC employees.

In 2005, WFHC employees established the clinic-wide “Heart 2 Heart” community charitable giving program. WFHC staff, moved by the tragic news of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, wanted to do something to help. In the weeks following the storms they went through their closets and hit the stores, donating more than a half ton of items including clothing, toiletries, toys, school and office supplies to six community health clinics in Louisiana as well as the Louisiana Primary Care Association.

Since the program’s start, WFHC staff and the board of directors have donated to numerous nonprofit organizations including AIDS Project LA, Westside Food Bank and Friends of Santa Monica Public Library.
Currently, our team is collecting Box Tops for Education for partner school, Saint Anne School in Santa Monica. Saint Anne’s student body is mostly low-income with nearly 80% qualifying for reduced or free school lunches. WFHC’s partnership with Saint Anne School began last year when we worked with the Administration to promote our health programs for children and parents.  
There are a variety of ways to contribute through the Box Tops for Education program.  The way we have chosen to help out is to collect Box Top coupons located on hundreds of products.  (They are worth 10 cents a piece and are a painless way to help a school.
