Westside Family Health Center’s own Westside Wanderers for the 4th straight year participated in the fundraiser AIDS Walk Los Angeles on October 18, 2009.

Nearly 75 WFHC employees, patients and neighbors—aided by passing motorists honking cars horns in support—marched in protest on June 29, 2009, urging state leaders to stop the severe cuts that would decimate the safety net for the poor.
WFHC picketers took to Ocean Park Boulevard wearing all black to signify the death of health care for the poor and uninsured. Westside Family Health Center sees more than 8,300 men, women and children in more than 22,400 visits and an additional 10,000 community health education encounters yearly.
The 15-minute protest was part of a larger call to action by Westside Family Health Center, The Saban Free Clinic and Venice Family Clinic, all with a long history of serving low-income and underserved communities. In conjunction with the protests, all three clinics have collaborated on a new public service announcement on You Tube in a united effort to fight the proposed health care cuts in the California state budget.
